Analysis and Strategy
Colours of Resistance
Colours of Resistance (COR) is a grassroots network of people who consciously work to develop anti-racist, multiracial politics in the movement against global capitalism. We are committed to helping build an anti-racist, anti-imperialist, multiracial, feminist, queer and trans liberationist, anti-authoritarian movement against global capitalism. We are committed to integrating an anti-oppression framework and analysis into all of our work.
Colours of Resistance is both a thinktank and an actiontank, linking the issues of global capitalism with their local impacts. For us, this means working locally on issues such as anti-war, police brutality, prison abolition, indigenous solidarity, affordable housing, healthcare and public transportation, environmental justice, racist immigration policies, and many more. Colours of Resistance acts as a network for us to share support, ideas, and strategies with one another across our diverse communities.
Labor/Community Strategy Center
The Labor/Community Strategy Center is a multiracial “think tank/act tank” committed to building democratic, internationalist, Left social movements and challenging the ideological, economic, and political domination of transnational capital.
The Strategy Center’s work encompasses all aspects of urban life in the United States: it emphasizes class-conscious labor organizing and fighting for environmental justice and ending climate change, immigrant rights, and first-class transportation, as well as actively confronting the growing criminalization, racialization, and feminization of poverty.
The Strategy Center synthesizes grassroots organizing-The Bus Riders Union and Community Rights projects-with education, policy development, and artistic culture production-Strategy Center Publications, The National Center for Transportation Strategies, the National School for Strategic Organizing, Voices from the Frontlines radio show, and AhoraNow periodical-to generate a creative and aggressive response to the growing power of the corporate-led political Right in the United States.
The Strategy Center is committed to multilingual organizing, including the development of multilingual publications, productions, and visuals arts.
Left Turn is a national network of activists engaged in exposing and fighting the consequences of global capitalism and imperialism. Rooted in a variety of social movements, we are anti-capitalists, radical feminists, anti-racists, and anti-imperialists working to build resistance and alternatives to corporate power and empire.
Through our publication, Left Turn Magazine, our website and other forums, we seek to create spaces for our various movements to reflect and strategize. The magazine serves as a resource to grassroots movements by reporting on and analyzing local and global struggles for justice. It is an all volunteer publication written by activists for activists.
We are committed to modelling the world we want to see by organizing collectively, democratically and without hierarchy, both internally and in the larger movement. Whether working on a local community campaign or doing international solidarity work, we seek to fight all forms of oppression through our organizing.
We recognize the importance of struggles waged by people and communities most affected by the policies of globalization and empire, whether in Brooklyn or Baghdad. Through each aspect of our work we highlight these struggles and forge connections between them in order to build a stronger more effective movement here in the heart of the empire.
Finally, we wish to project politics of hope, inspiration and solidarity based on both the rich history of social movements and the visionary work of everyday people coming together to radically transform society and bring about a more just world.
Autonomy and Solidarity
We are announcing the formation of Autonomy & Solidarity – a political network of discussion and activism for revolutionary activists. Autonomy & Solidarity is an exploratory network and political space for socialists, anarchists and anti-capitalists who believe that revolutionary transformation will come from exploited and oppressed people self-organizing from below and not from the top down organizing of any state, party or union bureaucracy. Our name comes from our support for the autonomous struggles of workers and the oppressed, and from our belief in building forms of solidarity that address all forms of oppression and exploitation.
We are active in various anti-poverty, anti-war/occupation, feminist, union, queer liberation and anti-racist movements and coalitions. We also organize discussion groups, public forums and skills workshops, and produce materials and resources to develop and share our politics. Our goal is to develop theory and practice collectively in order to extend our individual capacities and to make better contributions to the movements in which we are active.
Autonomy & Solidarity seeks to initiate a wide-ranging process of political debate and elaboration. We are supporters of revolutionary pluralism, a political and organizational practice that views non-sectarian debates and discussions amongst revolutionaries from various backgrounds as healthy and generative. Autonomy & Solidarity provides us with a political network through which to explore the questions and debates that have been raised within the new anti-capitalist movements.
Autonomy & Solidarity is comprised of collectives and activists based in Toronto, Sudbury, Hamilton, Guelph, Vancouver and other locations. We look forward to hearing from other radicals who share our political perspectives and who are interested in participating in common projects or in becoming part of our network of collectives.
