
This online 6-week course on resisting state repression will run on Wednesdays from June 10th-July 15th from 4-6pm PT/5-7pm MT/6-8pm CT/7-9pm ET. Each class will include presentations from movement leaders and interactive discussion to absorb and apply their lessons.
Speakers include Ejeris Dixon (Ejerie Labs), Mark Tilsen (Indigenous Environmental Network), Darakshan Raja (Muslims for Just Futures), and movement attorney Soffiyah Elijah.
Recognize political repression
Connect modern-day repression to historic examples
Respond to political repression with solidarity, principles, and movement strategies
Be prepared to support targets of political repression
Root our understanding of political repression in the long arc of history, from the Slave Codes to the War on Terror
Understand the white supremacist roots and agenda of political repression
Course fees are on a sliding scale of $100-500 with no one turned away for lack of funds.

Sessions will be on zoom for two hours with a 10 minute break about halfway through. Session will include presentations from guest speakers and breakout discussions of various sizes.
This course will be facilitated by Catalyst Project members and volunteers, and will feature the following guest speakers:
Ejeris Dixon (they/she) is an organizer and political strategist with 20 years of experience working in racial justice, LGBTQ, anti-violence, and economic justice movements. They are the Founding Executive Director of Vision Change Win Consulting and the Principal of Ejerie Labs.
Mark Tilson is a poet, educator, and frontline veteran from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, in the homelands of the Oglala Lakota Nation.
Darkashan Raja, is the founding executive director of Muslims for Just Futures (MJF) where she manages the organization’s overall development, programming, administration, and strategic direction. Darakshan leads MJF’s national advocacy and movement-building efforts, local Chicago power-building programming, and the DC Guaranteed Income program. Darakshan is an abolitionist who made her way to organizing through the anti-violence movement providing crisis advocacy support to survivors in NYC. She is passionate about building power, bringing organizing visions to life, and figuring out ways to build a strong infrastructure for movement work.
Soffiyah Elijah is the Founder and former Executive Director of the Alliance of Families for Justice. She has dedicated her life to human rights and social activism and is a frequent presenter at national and international forums on criminal justice policy, incarceration and human rights issues.

Presentation portions of the course will be recorded for registered participants who have to miss the session. Participatory discussions will not be recorded.
This course has no required homework. However, there will be recommended readings (or videos or audio sources) for each session.
