Join Day of Action Against the War in Yemen

“US imperialism is not new. It manifests differently from region to region. But we all as Americans have a role. Will we be proactive and do something about it? Or remain complicit, and turn a blind eye as if the US bombs that drop in Yemen have nothing to do with us?”

– Jehan Hakim, Yemeni Alliance Committee

Dear Catalyst Community,

This is an urgent moment to act. Let the Biden administration know that we expect them to take immediate action to end the US-backed war on Yemen by joining the January 25th Global Day of Action!

Interview with Jehan Hakim of the Yemeni Alliance Committee

As we celebrate yesterday’s end to the Muslim ban that devastated so many lives, we must remember that the U.S. still bears major responsibility for the war in Yemen. Since 2015, a Saudi-led coalition has waged war on Yemen, killing tens of thousands of people and devastating the country. An estimated 60,000 civilians have died in airstrikes. By blockading the country’s ports and targeting civilian infrastructure, the Saudis have deliberately caused a famine and cholera epidemic. The UN defines the situation in Yemen as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Food and medicine are restricted from entering the region, hospitals and schools are systemically bombed, and most people living in Yemen do not have access to clean water or electricity. 85,000 Yemeni children have starved to death, and 10 million Yemenis now live on the brink of famine

The war is only possible because Western countries – and the United States in particular – continue to arm Saudi Arabia and provide military, political, and logistical support for the war.

Now is the time for President Biden to fulfill his earlier promise to pull the U.S. out of this unconscionable war – Yemen can’t wait, and we can help make this happen!
