About us

Catalyst Project builds the anti-racist leadership of white people to support multiracial movements for collective liberation. We do this through intensive political education and leadership development, workshops and trainings, and movement building.

TESTIMONIALS

Catalyst gives me hope! At a time when I have almost no hope left regarding white people turning and facing the work of unlearning supremacy, Catalyst gives me hope. When white people enter spaces I am facilitating and haven't learned their history, haven't picked up their race work in this lifetime, don't seem to know where to start, are centering whiteness either in words or actions - I just say Catalyst! Catalyst has cultivated a space where white people can restore themselves to a humanity that predates the trauma of supremacy.

In our work organizing the Arab community towards justice and self-determination, we consider Catalyst an organization we can turn to for consistent, and principled support to advance movement work in the Bay Area. Whether we are in partnership to develop campaigns, strategize and organize to achieve victories, or in moments where we are forced to respond rapidly to political developments, requiring trust, and a high level of commitment, we have deep appreciation for the contribution of our allies at Catalyst.
—Lara Kiswani, Executive Director, Arab Resource and Organizing Center
So many leaders in Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) are coming through Catalyst’s trainings with deepened grounding around the history of struggle, systemic oppression and a sense of their own potential to be powerful change makers. Folks doing racial justice organizing in majority white communities all over the US and Canada are transforming how they organize based on what they learn through the powerful political education work, serving movements right now, and for decades to come.
—Carla Wallace, National Leadership Team, Showing Up for Racial Justice
The times we live in are shaped by the extreme dangers of war, fascism, and capital-driven climate disaster, but also by inspiring struggles for social, racial, gender, economic, and environmental justice. Organizations like Catalyst and projects like their Anne Braden Program are critically important in helping activists, organizers, and leaders to fight like hell to understand the world we live in and, most importantly, to change it.
—Isaac Ontiveros, Director of Political Strategy, Right to the City Alliance
